St Peter (2005)

From the production team that bought us the excellent TV movie Jesus (1999) comes St Peter starring Omar Sharif. Omar Sharif is himself a Muslim, yet he has starred in three Christian/biblical movies in the last two years; The Ten Commandments (2006), One Night with the King (2006) and of course this movie. So with this in mind St Peter should have been an interesting movie.
Unfortunately it wasn't. It was dull, poorly acted (even Sharif seemed to struggle through this movie), the writing was uninspired (a real shame considering the source material what they had to work with) and the voice dubbing (the movie is an Italian production) was just terrible.
I had to watch this movie in several parts as it's over 3 hours long and at times excruciating to watch. I'm not going to waste too much time review this one but if you've seen the Close to Jesus series of movies you'll know what to expect.
My rating 2/10... a real shame because this could have been something special, yet the whole thing just left me wondering, how can a company that made the excellent Jesus have made this boring, uninspired movie.CSJ

"A brilliant movie filled with Christian joy and love" IMDB.com

"Omar Sharif makes a compassionate and strong Simon Peter and the acting, tight direction, beautiful cinematography, and story make for one good film. Few Biblical stories are portrayed as well in film as this one is. It is a must-see film for ages twelve and above, due to a few scenes of violence, and we award this film five doves, the highest number we can give." The Dove Foundation
